The Agrupació Sardanista Costa Brava is organizing this concert dedicated to Ricard Viladesau, the prince of the tenora, for the 24th consecutive year. The concert format of this activity, the respect and passion of the audience, and the musical quality provided by two of the best coblas in Catalonia, make this concert an unquestionable reference.
The concert consists of two parts: in the first part a repertoire of various sardanas is performed alternately by the two coblas. In the second part, however, a joint repertoire is performed that, at times, tend to be compositions that are not strictly sardana.
La Principal de La Bisbal is a cobla of sardanas founded in 1888 by members of the Cobla Vella from the town of La Bisbal d’Empordà In 1932 it was chosen as the official cobla of the Generalitat de Catalunya, a title that was restored to it in 1978 by President Josep Tarradellas. In 2014, he received the National Culture Award from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The cobla Els Montgrins was founded in 1884 in Torroella de Montgrí by Pere Rigau i Poch, known as “Barretó”. Els Montgrins is the oldest cobla group in existence today and one of the most prestigious musical groups in Catalonia.
