Transmediterranea Orchestra

Àgora – Passeig del Mar
All the music of the Mediterranean is interconnected. Every melody, every rhythm, has roots somewhere else in the region. Music is a language of transmission, not of competition: the songs belong to those who sing them and those who dance them. Like no other force, it crosses temporal and geographical borders, uniting cultures and generations.
With this spirit was born Transmediterranea Orchestra, a superband formed by musicians from Biflats, Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, Girona Jazz Project, Gramophone All Stars, Juantxo Skalari & La Rude Band, Los Manolos, Lluís Coloma & His Musical Troupe, Gertrudis, Rosa Luxemburg, Dagoll Dagom, Orquestra Basarab, Manel Fuentes & Spring’s Team, Always Drinking Marching Band and several coblas.
Rooted in the power and sonority of the fanfare with cobla sound, the band fuses this legacy with the rhythms of the Balkans, klezmer music and the sounds of North Africa, Greece and Turkey. The result is a modern and danceable proposal, where the strength of traditional instrumentation is combined with contemporary elements such as electronics.
More than a concert, Transmediterranea Orchestra offers an immersive experience: a journey through Mediterranean history and diversity through music. With a striking staging and a festive and dynamic live performance, the group fuses the energy of the popular festival with the spirit of the fanfare, creating a unique proposal within the current panorama.
